Statistically speaking, he’s one of the most successful producers in the history of rap. Especially if we are going hit for hit.

Look at all the huge records he’s been behind.

But he doesn’t really have online Stan’s like that. There are drake Stan’s, but not 40 Stan’s. Rza got them, Premo got them, Just Blaze, Kanye, Neptunes, alchemist, QTip etc.

He does have stans, but since drake has a casual fanbase, 40 stans are naturally casual as well.

In reality 40 is one of the most popular and well known producers in the game. I'm actually unclear on how much legitimate producing he does at this point of his career, he has coproducers out the ass.

He hasn't really produced for anyone other than Drake. I think he did a joint with Action Bronson like ten years ago...

That's why he never really gets mentioned like the others
Yeah if your career is almost entirely tied to one rapper then people can't discern how much they actually love your music. They'll assume they like the music because of the rapper not you.

This is why I don't rate him highly. I look at him more as a co-producer.

If you look at the list of singles on his Wiki, the only Drake song on that list he produced himself is Successful. The other 3 solo productions are Aaliyah, JoJo and PND songs. Every other song is co-produced

Good point …but I have a real issue with you saying “stans”. We honestly overuse it for artists but we especially shouldn’t use it for fans of producers that’s extremely weird

But yea if we doing like we supposed to and separating the producer from the artist, hes definitely a legend.

To me his legacy and why he’ll always be good in my book is he was the only producer, or at least was the first, that’s sampling kinda random early 2000s R&B. Most producers sample soul, 60s, 70s, but 40 was on some other shyt. Like who tf is sampling Joh B for Cameras, or Mary J for Weston Road, Brandy for Fire and Desire.:mjcry:

BUT, partly why he is not recognized bc it’s not always him on the track. Like I was about to list How Bout Now :sadcam:samples Jodeci in that same vein, but that’s not 40 it’s Boi1da. So 40 goes under the radar bc other OVO producers produce similar beats

Does 40 make actual tracks tho?

I heard several years ago he was sending oit emails or texts to ppl saying they're looking for "sound like Drake" tracks for a project.

From then on I just assumed he took other ppls tracks and just tweaked them

40 is more successful than Irv Gotti and had a longer run

Your Math is off. Mic Geronimo was 1993/1994. The last production credit Irv got was on the Ye album and the song went 2× Platinum. That's literally 25 years but according to you 40 has the longer run.

:mjlol:

Also. 40 never had a super successful record label with 2 ( not 1) superstars nor did he have a 2"season series tv show on BET but according to you 40 is more successful.
