Is 1080p "Good Enough" For You In 2023?

1440p/60fps is the sweet spot for me and I've been using a 1440p monitor since 2020.

But yea like others have said "most" pc gamers are scraping together parts from older pcs and just getting by with what they have and upgrade part by part. People with top of the line rigs are in the minority in pc gaming. (But I'm part of the minority )

PC players dirty secret . Everybody got 4090s and custom loop i9-13900s pushing 4K@240, but then those Steam hardware surveys come out and everybody still on hardware from Obama's first term . MFs be worried about the minimum specs, meanwhile those of us that got it ain't looked at requirements at all

For certain games that I don't care for them to look absolutely fantastic, but run well instead, 1080p does the trick.

I have a 17" gaming laptop that only does 1080p and its more than adequate. I've actually fallen in love with the PC experience over the last few weeks and will be building a fully maxed out PC sometime in the next week or two while using the laptop for gaming on the go. I was going to wait for the holidays to build it but nah. I'm playing Starfield in 4K at the highest frame rate possible, be it 60FPS or 100+. Sick of my wife and kids getting all the good shyt. It's my turn. I'll definitely be getting a hefty 4K monitor, too.


I absolutely won't look at 1080p on the PS5 on my 65 inch. In short, for my laptop, it's fine due to the screen size but if I have the option, I'm not settling for 1080p.

A large portion of steam users are in China, South America, and third world countries where consoles are too expensive for them. Of course they're gonna skew the average specs. And, as mentioned, most PC players would rather have 1080p or 1440p with 240hz than 4k 60hz.
