The latter. Irv has always just been a music guy. He was a neighborhood DJ. And yes, his affiliation with Preme has allowed him to poke his chest out, he's still connected with a lot of real dudes. Irv, himself, was never in the streets.

That's 85% of rap though.

Nas deaded the beef in 04. Joe started talking this regret shyt twelve years later. Fat Joe see this nikka Jay making money and wants to be down. nikka didn't like Jay before the Nas beef. Come on now. But what does he want exactly from Jay?
Nas deaded it in 06 actually. Thats a whole fukkin 5 years after the battle. Fat Joe is a clown tryna make like Nas stopped his money flow. What a fukkin sucka yo. This nikka KNOWS he had beef wit Jay before Nas. Now he tryna save face.

This right here is one of them things I hope Nas and Jungle address. Dude really tryna accuse Nas of using him for his street ties and fukkin up his money. He prolly wont tho. Might spit a line or 2 about it on his album and thats it.

Why does Fat Joe think he's the only one in NYC with street nikkas on his team?

I don't think it's worth addressing. It's not a big deal

Roc the mic? I’m pretty sure that was after that tho. The pledge came out in 02 right after the beef. Jay talked bout It on hot 97 back then.

Get back at jay for what? This was right after the battle. Jay talked bout how he could have signed 50 but out of respect for irv he never even thought about it

During Irv Gotti’s portion of the show, the Queens native spoke of his potential signing of legendary rapper Nas and how their nearly inked deal soured the relationship between Irv and former Nas foe Jay-Z.

“It ruined me and Jay a lot,” said Irv Gotti of Nas potentially signing to the Murder Inc. imprint. During the time of the reported deal, Nas and Jay-Z were embroiled in a heated war of words culminating in Nas’ blistering dis track “Ether” and Jay-Z’s “Super Ugly” response. However, Irv Gotti revealed that his interest in Nas was deeper than the Queens borough they both proudly represented.

“I messed with Nas because Hov kept turning me down,” shared Irv of his reasons for going with Nas. Irv explained later in the interview that his frustrations that Jay-Z didn’t immediately latch on to a failed Murder Inc. tour plan fueled his pursuit of Nas with Steve Stoute’s introduction linking the pair – but the Queensbridge lyricist wasn’t moved by Irv’s promise of rap riches. “If you know Nas, the last thing he wants [is that attention],” said Gotti.
