There are still undertones of "rape culture" as some people call it where open sexism and generally rapey behavior is socially unacceptable, but it's still a thing. Those attitudes still persist, you just receive more backlash for them than you would have generations past. White kids used to stand around at lynchings eating ice cream comes while black bodies were swinging from the limbs. Somewhere a long the line, even racist whites determined that that shyt was a bit much, who's cleaning this up?

You keep scaling that down and this what you have. Like I said I'd rather have transparency, but there is no going back to that. Even whites who hold those attitudes don't want to mess that comes with letting their less tactful friends put it all on front street. It's bad for business.

For me, it's odd to watch it play out because like you noted in your post you've got the cognitive dissonance on full display on many levels

Case in point, watching Hilary who literally feels the exact why about blacks as most (not all) trump supporters be postioned as the lesser of two evils and the length the media is going to rationalize and justify this dispite her comments and the policies she supported in the past.

Watching older brehs/sisters become educated about her policies and still voting for her

He's playing people but he's being honest at the sometime. He's playing to honest fears they have which is why he's been wildly successful and as brother I love SOME of the indirect effects it's had on society and the american negro specifically.

For instance, watching this young brehs actually see overt racism and the confused looks on their faces when they realize he has a real chance to win the election BUT at the same time realizing the other option is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
