Well, in ’93, I was in prison, so there would not have been a fight. But there is no way I would have won. I had no idea what was going on with that type of fighting and would’ve been taken by surprise. I would have had to train in that particular art of fighting for that to happen. That’s a particular art. You are not going to go in there with your just your hands, you need to have a great ground game as well. You also need a great wrestling game to be successful. You have to have both skills, wrestling and boxing. That’s the truth.”

Back in 1993 Royce Gracie was dominating Mixed Martial Arts with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and while Mike Tyson was in prison his boxing dominance still resonated with the globe.

Many considered Tyson the most dangerous man in the world.

In a recent appearance on UFC Tonight, the former boxing heavyweight champion said that’s not the case, Royce Gracie would have beaten him.

Why do ufc fans always like to point out the obvious? Always tryna bring down boxers by talking about fights with wrestlers and shyt. Obviously someone who only trains in boxing is gonna be at a disadvantage against someone who does wrestling and jiu jitsu and shyt, damn. I'm not going at you in particular man, but I honestly feel like a lot of ufc fans are some insecure ass dudes. We get it, you don't like boxing or the higher level of popularity it has over mma, move on. Also, I peep that racial angle that's present often too.

1. MIKE TYSON said this, so I don't know what the fukk you're talking about :dahell:

2. Mike Tyson was also chewed up and spit out by the boxing game, so it's not a surprise he would be talking trash about it these days.

ufc fans dont like black people. so they dont like boxing.

I get tired of the comparisons as well. Of course every boxer would get worked in the UFC style fighting because they haven't spent their lives training for it. Every UFC fighter would get the same work in a boxing ring for the same reasons.
Yes technically both are fighting, but the skills needed are so different they are two completely sports. But because they both are "fighting" too many people think they should crossover.

I hate that you gotta be one or the other as a fight fan. the best MMA boxer stanced fighter would catch wreck viciously in a boxing ring and any boxer would be immediately taken down and worked on from there, I don't know why people force this convo so often

I love both MMA and Boxing. Mike wasn't shilling for the UFC/MMA he gave his opinion. Right at that time, Royce would have immediately locked him up and worked for the takedown/ground. Mike has always been honest like he was in this interview, not just MMA stuff, he was asked if he could have beat a Klitschko and he said he doesn't know if he could have due to differences in supplements and training modern day.

A mma fighter will lose in a boxing ring, a boxer would lose in the mma ring.

But there is a higher chance of the boxer winning in the mma ring.

Word to former boxing champ Ray Mercer knocking former UFC Champ Tim Sylvia the fukk out in a MMA bout under MMA rules:heh:

I dont think there's been a case where a MMA fighter has ever defeated a former boxing champion in a boxing ring under boxing rules

Thanks to Ray Mercer, MMA cannot say the same:yeshrug:

That was too easy.

Exactly.

And it was a MMA sanctioned event under "their" rules against a former MMA Champion. Let a MMA fighter go against a former Boxing Champion in a "boxing" match and it's gonna get ugly fast:blessed:
