Americans actually work more hours a year than the Japanese on average. It’s funny how Americans are indoctrinated to think other countries have it worse than us in certain respects when in fact we often have it worse than them in more ways than one. America is the most overworked country in the developed world.

Mexico works harder than America. But most immigrants coming to America from Mexico and Central America. Rich cac CEO’s love brehitos slave ethic. It’s a race to the bottom to compete with Central American slave work ethic. White collar, blue collar, no collar. CEO’s say the Mexican man can work from 10 to 10 six days a week, why can’t you Mr. John? But at least brehitos are smart and send all that money home so their families can live better lives in Mexico. There isn’t as much American style government scams imposed on regular people like property taxes in some countries in Central America like El Salvador, so you bet they living good off American dollars down there.

There were these two Europeans. I don't remember what country they were from but they were backpacking all over the place and said in their country they had a huge amount of automatic vacation, something like 6-7 weeks a year, so they do big trips at their leisure every year. Whereas my wife had to save up her vacation time for 2 years so we could go on a 3-week honeymoon.

I saw the exact same shyt in the education sector. I was just reading an article from the early 1990s talking about Japanese and Chinese classrooms, and the teachers were way more casual, collaborative, activity-based not test-based than American teachers were. And since then American schools have only gotten worse with the testing. We're indoctrinated to believe that Asian students got ahead by sitting silently at their desks 8 hours a day and cramming everything for rote tests when in fact that was just describing the American bullshyt the whole time.

Most Americans don’t work overtime because they want to, it’s because they have to. Working 40 hours a week at a basic hourly job ain’t a living wage and is a waste of time for most people. Millions of people are barely making a living wage only because of the time and a half pay provided by overtime hours. People working 60 hours a week making $60k a year before taxes in a state where that is basically the bare minimum living wage for a single person without any shred of debt, no kids and no foreseeable bumps in the road, ever.

Some jobs have mandatory overtime. UPS drivers can’t stop delivering until the job is done. UPS drivers regularly work 60 hour weeks because of this. UPS is on the verge of a historic strike because of this. Different types of sales involve long hours because you need to be selling and making commission. Car sales hours to be worth it is like 12 hours a day, six days a week. People fought for our right to have a forty hour work week, but that concept was destroyed in 2008 when the Great Recession hit and employers and corporations have had the upper hand on employees ever since because workers are now seen as completely replaceable and disposable in most industries.

Meaning I can be off whenever I want, but I have to pay the day back whenever I want within the calendar year.

I live in fukkin Wisconsin, it’s 17 degrees out today so I went in to work today so I could pay back a day I took off in May when it was 77

Milwaukee is full of nikkas, the whole north side is black af. Same with areas of Racine, Kenosha which are just south.
