I ALWAYS re tag my shyt no matter where I get it from. I'm very specific as to how I like my music sorted. I also write features in the lyrics section so that if Im on my iPod I can touch the screen while the song is playing and it goes a bit dimmer and shows feat. Ghostface Killah or whoever. I prefer the look of that to having feat. So&so at the end of the track name or artist name.

I put the artist in artist, but I have the album artist as whoever cd it is

so a song like 24 k of gold would be tagged as such

Album artist: Big sean
Song: 24K Of Gold
Artist: Big Sean; J.Cole

And I always set my players to arrange it by album artist, otherwise you will get your ipod looking real funky with things like
Big Sean
Big Sean; SAYITAINTTONE; Early Mac; Mike Posner; James Fantleroy
Big Sean; Juicy; King Chip

shyt like that when you are going through artist

I usually just right click on a song, select get info, go to the info tab and make sure the artist and album name are all spelled the same on each song that

should be on the album...no extra spaces or any bullshyt. Also adding the track #'s to the right helps...like track 1 of 14, then track 2 or 14...but yeah it's

bullshyt. Usually when I'm bored at work I'll fix it but its a pain...fukk people who tag shyt improperly.

like dat piff. Everything I download, I tag correctly in itunes. then I put it on my phone once its good there. that way there's no nonsense with my music organization.

I like to have my album artist and artist be the same. then I put the features after the track name. that seems to be the standard way of tagging these days.

MP3 Tag is free and will auto tag your albums from amazon's database. It will also add the cover. You do have to go in and clean up some of them but you do it once and that's it.

SHM at your artist features being part of the artist name.

Anyone else put the producer in the composer field? Kind of makes it a pain though when you get an album and all the songs are tagged like, "Gold Apinas featuring Rick Ross Prod. SuperMonteCarlo" all in the song title field.

I always have the :beli: face after downloading mixtapes.

It happened a lot more back in 05-09, the songs in the album being out of order. I spent years listening to albums in the wrong order till I would randomly look it up in wikipedia and find out it wasn't like that at all

I'm a bit OCD, so I sort of hate that some songs have the ft. on the song title and others have it on the artist

I didn't know about album artist for a while, so my itunes looked really ugly with the same cover showing up 18 straight times. A couple years ago my computer died, and when I got a new one I had to get a program to extract the music from my ipod otherwise it would get wiped when I first synched.

The program worked, but now I have 49 folders all with tracks named RDNF/KBLD/DHJF etc so when I want to delete an album I have to go selecting each song one by one.

yeah i'm a bit obsessive when i re-tag itunes lol i re do everything and make sure all the track numbers are there, disc number, producer in the composer if i know it, i put West/East/Aussie etc in the group, some stuff i even have the label in the Comments (Def Jam etc) lol i've got this weird thing where all my track names have to have capital letters for each word and i have to have apostrophe's where they're supposed to be and all kinds of shyt

So how would you tag something like self made vol 2 or the Firm?
Mine goes

Album Artist: The firm (you could have it as nas if you want)

song:Firm Fiasco
Artist: AZ; Foxy Brown; Nas

Song:Firm Family
Artist: Dr. Dre; Nature

Why would having the featured artist in the song title make more sense, when those are the artist on the song?:why:

Also, dont forget to view the extended tags, thats where it will mess your sorting up without you knowing why, or this sites you downloaded it from will add some B.S to the lyrics or anywhere really

You can change the album art to whatever you want if u like custom album art, and make sure it is even and around 500x500 so its clear without adding to much space to the mp3

Damn dude what about when these crazy a$$holes include the Artist Name, Album, Track Number, and Song Name all in the song title :bryan:

At first I was really strict about changing everything but I'm always deleting music to make room for more. Now I just make playlist.:win:

id rather have that happen then the "unknown artist" and "track #" gettin lost in the abyss on my ipod with the rest of them shyts

I did a reset on my music like 3-4 years ago, because most of what I had wasnt tagged like it should be, Im at 561 full albums (I still have a folder of my original music somewhere on an external drive tho, but I couldnt tell you whats in it), cuz I only download full albums & nothing gets added to my music library unless its tagged right with album art, it just makes the everything so much better

I'm OCD when it comes to organizing my ITunes...I make playlist for every album/mixtape I get so it can be easier to go to...I also put the producer's name under the composer tag so I can have a record of all the producer's work. It really is helpful tho...
