you don't know that till after you steal it. If it doesn't have a pin and they signed into their mail account you can use the mail app to reset the password and disable find my iPad for example.

Yes you can. I just tested it and it works.

For example if I used a Yahoo email address for my Apple ID and don't have a pin on my iPad and that Yahoo email is on the Mail app of the iPad then you can send a password reset link for that Apple ID to that email and remove it from the iPad. Since it's logged in on the Mail app you don't need the email address password to access email sent to it just open the app and it's there.

You go there and type in the Apple ID and it will send a reset link to the email.

This is why you need a pin lock on your devices.

Can't they just do a factory reset?
If it's been paired with an Apple ID you have to have the password to remove that ID. This is a server side Apple issue. The device needs permission from Apple's server to work. It phones home and on the server if it's been paired the server won't grant permission to activate.

There are people who get legitimately locked out of their Apple ID and it turns their iDevice into a paper weight. Apple won't unlock your device without that password period.

Long story short a factory reset is meaningless because it will still phone back home and lock up.

So as someone of you might've read, my pad Air 2 was stolen at my retail job by a couple. I use it for my job and it even has the job logo on it. The woman distracted me for 15 seconds while the other took it. Almost immediately after they left, I looked around and saw it gone. I tried to look at the security footage but by that time it was too late.

I have the security footage but not sure what I can do with it. I showed the cops and they said it would not be a priority but they have a description. It's a high traffic area so it's nearly impossible to track down the people. You can see the person but the quality isn't enough to fully id the chic and the guy.

Unfortunately, it was a wifi only ipad and they would have to manually connect to wifi in order for find my iphone to work and tell me where to bring a fuccking baseball bat.

I'm feeling helpless brehs. Already set lost mode up. No clue what to do from here. If Apple is to be trusted, it's impossible for them to reset it without my passcode. I was told to call pawn shops and already registered with a stolen property website. Anytips for how to recover it?
I got something for you

How do ya'll not have find my iphone enabled? That's just crazy to me. And I'm guessing the couple that got the OP just wasted they time stealing it since they won't be able to use it.

Unless the owner is a moron, stealing a apple device for the most part is meaningless. iCloud is on point. Only way you could disable it is changing the motherboard
