It looks like they serve it on a pizza platter in the restaurant, and if you ordered take-out, The Pizza Box would fit in a cardboard pizza box, considering the Pizza Box fits within a pizza platter.

why not just put the crust lid on the inner pizza

Then, it wouldn't be a pizza box. You get a pizza in a Pizza Box. A crust lid would just be a pizza with a dough cover. It's ingenious.
