No country fascinates me more. I was in China with a friend as we traveled back to his home in Russia and we had the Chinese cabbie stop along the Tumen River to see North Korea. The cabbie lifted up the barbed wire for us on the Chinese side and we walked to the end of a bridge that was decimated and disconnected from North Korea. The guards on both sides watched us and I was quite uneasy. It was very surreal to see North Korea in person. The cabbie told us of the countless people who would cross in the middle of the night when the Tumen froze over. Very interesting experience.
