If the BIB actually makes it to a vote this week, it's either because Pelosi has found enough Republican votes and/or enough 'progressives' caved and voted for it anyway. :francis:

10000 flows is hell of a lot different than a 600 balance but still that's anyone with a job that can be grounds for snooping retroactive to whenever

Anyone defending the 600 balance as is pure partisan juelzing or naivete at its utmost finest

If its targeting the wealthy then make that shyt 100k liquid balance or 500k gross flows or some shyt

600 balance is fukking ludicrous and I dont care what any of you say on here

Let that provision go in and down the road an ATM withdrawal of 200 or whatever it may be will eventually be flagged as the country moves away from cash. Let's say it's even 5 years from now

All of a sudden they audit someone who deposited a cash birthday present from years prior and that's gotta be explained? Maybe that's an extreme example but this is a slippery slope of complete garbage and for the democrats to say that's targeting the wealthy? They can fukk off with that

I still havent received a reason why this is necessary from the people who say the IRS can already do this. So why add something redundant that is easily perceived as an attack on the little guy, specifically when they say they are more likely to audit said little guy than the wealthy due to funding? How about they just fund the IRS more in the bill and not add the provision then?

It was always about flows in and out of accounts - the number threshold was only for account eligibility. But it's evident that you and many other people don't really understand the provision because of statements like the bolded.

Dems walking away with nothing... only hurts Dems:francis:
What a shyt show.
This. Progressives holding up a bill for another bill that isn’t even complete yet. Progressives are to blame if Biden walks away with nothing on Thursday.
Progressives are doing what they were told by Biden, Pelosi and Schumer. Everyone knew the deal.

Biden wanted two-track as did the leadership. Bipartisan went through regular order. Then there'd be reconciliation. Passed at the same time encompassing nearly the entire Biden agenda.

And by the way, this isn't just the progressive caucus. You have committee chairs like Maxine Waters, Pete DeFazio, and others who are openly saying that only passing the bipartisan bill is horse shid.

You really think people who been in Congress for 20-30 years who've worked their entire careers for this moment are going to only pass the only leverage they have over Sinema and Manchin? Manchin is talking about passing reconciliation before NOVEMBER 2022. BEFORE THE MIDTERMS.

Just insanity. Everyone knows shid isn't going to be happening when people are campaigning.

It's now or never for both bills. Bipartisan bill will fail on Thursday if Pelosi puts it on the floor. If that happens, she can always bring it back up when they get the reconciliation in order. She most probably won't bring it to the floor due to her track record. But this is also her last hurrah. Maybe she does bring it so it can fail and show the Senate they need to get those 2 in line.

Biden promised popular things like addressing the Medicaid gap and lowering drug prices. You only pass the bipartisan bill, none of that shid is going to happen in 2022. And the Dems need quick Ws and material benefits going out to people well before the election.
