WWE has plans for The Collective.
WWE applied to trademark the term on December 15th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), filing for the following use:
IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal
It’s unclear what exactly WWE intends to do with the mark, but it’s worth noting that pro wrestling already has “The Collective” in use on the independent scene. GCW has used the name for the past several years to brand their WrestleMania weekend events, with this year’s edition of The Collective taking place in Indianapolis due to delays because of the coronavirus pandemic.
GCW has run “The Collective” with some of the top promotions on the independent scene including Black Label Pro, Freelance Wrestling and AIW. The event has also become home to several specially-themed and tentpole events like For The Culture and Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport.
Even if it’s a one off, it would be great to see.
