Black Self-Sufficiency
As a people, we need to not only be proud of who we are but also seek to perform actions worthy of that pride. In this way, we will not be taken in by backhanded compliments and praise about our character and propensity to be altruistic. We are a great people, ALL OF US on the continent and diaspora, who have done great feats in the Past, Present, and will continue to in the Future.

Our present circumstances, no matter what they are, can not be allowed to limit our push towards greatness. In turn, we must not allow any perceived detrimental circumstance about our condition in the Present to make us mules for the use of other groups of people who only want to use us for their purposes. Instead, we must use our energy and generosity for our people first and foremost.

We can start small with our families and then radiate out into our communities and eventually the entire Black world. Charity starts in the home, and strong families should be the foundation that we use in our push toward greatness. It starts with the family though, because that is where the culture for success can be most effectively created and nurtured.

Ok, off my soapbox.

Online sometimes doesn't translate to reality. I bet there is a black woman giddy to get up with him. Probably even one that responded negatively to that clip

Nicca what?! :why:

BW are naturally curvy. You think if they somehow managed to slim down that more of them would be on TV?

Act like there hasn’t been a conceited effort in the last few hundred years to portray bp negatively brehs. They could find fit bw to put on tv if they wanted to :comeon:

Bro have you seen photos of black women 20-30 years ago? Being fat isn’t natural. Yes naturally curvy is fine but pushing 200 lbs wasn’t normal until mid 2000s. We’re so used to obesity some can’t even fathom a black women at a healthy weight.

Collectively of course. Also this fat epidemic is affecting other races as well but I think black people in general set the trends despite the obstacles.

People just looking to get offended.

If you grew up as a non-white person in the UK during the 90s, you'd know exactly why the mother gave him that message, chances are you heard the same thing.

Those things help shape your perception. It's not about seeing black women as mules. It is understanding the threat presented by others.

White/non-black women are fine with having black women around, as long as they’re not in competition with them when it comes to male attention. I’ve seen this dynamic so many times.
Edit- when it comes to white man attention

Yep.

I always say…once you are in “the game”, meaning you look good, know you look good, and are competition, girls of other races are throwing daggers at your head.

I either get white women who tell me how pretty they think I am, or I get looked up and down and don’t get one compliment.

They’ll fall all over you and act like your best friend if you’re a size 16 or something tho

^^ This was my only issue with our responses to his clip. Women are reinforcing the stereotypes. And I GET IT, but in terms of optics this did us no favors.

The point was, in a world filled with violent people, p3dos, racist and cold ass white ppl, etc, odds are the people who know firsthand how fukked up the West is (Black women) will be the ones who will be least likely to harm you if you get lost.

It wasn’t about muling.

And it IS tough because society definitely sees us as the help, mammies, etc and we most certainly need to push against that, but in particular example he was trying to show support in light of the controversy with Adam Schultz.

The responses aren’t very strategic given the “jokes” we are upset about.

AGAIN- this is a nuanced discussion because Black women have a right to be offended by Schultz’s jokes, and we also have reasons to be upset in this society, but optics are a thing.

And it’s not about respectability politics, it’s just about being strategic and understanding the optics of our response.

Someone above quoted the Hispanic chick who was being passive aggressive and responding to all of the Black woman. The thing is, no she isn’t trying to understand where we are coming from or how we feel. Of course not. Other races will use the opportunity to twist our words or be obtuse. But all those responses…they gave someone with bad intentions the ability to do that. Which is why when I saw this shyt on social media I just kept scrolling and didn’t respond.

Being indifferent and just letting shyt fade away is a way to respond to things we don’t like or support. Because in this case, NO ONE is going to take the time to understand why we are bothered. They’re just going to interpret the responses as us being angry and not wanting to help children lmao

Sometimes you have to ignore the shyt and let it die. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Damn, the Puerto Rican woman who reposted this video sure is acting :mjpls:

Rather than trying to understand, she’s acting obtuse and condescending.

But we shouldn’t be surprised by that. That’s what racists do.

See, shyt like this bytch is what people should be getting at. People like HER are the real issue. She’s instigating
