The first half is classic. The second half lazy writing.

The first half was epic shyt. I was a kid, but I don't remember seeing or reading about a movie before this that felt like "that's really how it would be if aliens invaded".

Second half was still good, it just didn't hold up over time. It was hacky and cheesy, but did what it needed to do.
