I think it's actually Skyfall. Best villain, the most realistic Bond gadgets, the best cinematography, and the best screenplay (the rats speech is classic).
The last James Bond movie before Casino Royale kinda soured me off from watching another Bond movie, so I went years without watching the movie.Casino Royale by far. Excellent writing and he didn’t have any over the top gadgets.
Skyfall was actually my favorite at one time.I think it's actually Skyfall. Best villain, the most realistic Bond gadgets, the best cinematography, and the best screenplay (the rats speech is classic).
Agree about the Bronson moviesIt's hard to rank Bond movies since they are all products of very different eras.
My overall favorite movie is In her majesties secret service.
I used the Pandemic to rewatch all the Bond movies and as a result made different lists
My favorite movie by actor is:
Daniel Craig: Casino Royale
Pierce Brosnan: Golden Eye (Brosnans Bond movies aged terribly though and feel like generic 90's action movies now.)
Timothy Dalton: The living daylights
Roger Moore: For your eyes only
Sean Connery: Thunderball and From Russia with love.
You can also rank the Bond movies by sub genre as in:
Spy thrillers:
From Russia with love
Casino Royale
The living daylights
A Quantum of Solace
For your eyes only
Dr. No
Blockbuster Action movies:
In her majesties secret service
Thunderball
The Spy who loved me
Moonraker
Goldfinger
Golden Eye
Camp
Moonraker
Octop*ssy (The title alone has me )
The weird ones:
Live and let die
The man with the golden gun
You only live twice
Skyfall (beautiful cinematography, weird storyline and wtf @ the third act)
License to kill
Trash:
Spectre (best of the worst it just fell apart at the end, you can't just try to retroactively create a BCU)
Tomorrow never dies
The World is not enough
Diamonds are forever ( )
A view to a kill ()
Die another day (I prefer to pretend this abomination doesn't exist and refuse to rewatch it. Terrible cgi, nonsensical plot, a north korean general who gets turned into a white guy through plastic surgery and becomes a robotic super soldier at the end? Who the fukk signed off on this? )
As for your sidenote, all the Bond movies were on Youtube for free over christmas, I don't know if that's still the case. I'd recommend the BluRay collection though, they have very well made and interesting behind the scenes documentaries on there for all the Bond movies from Connery up until Timothy Dalton.
The spy who loved me and From Russia with love
Dalton could have done with more than two movies, he should have taken the mantle from Moore sooner than he didBoth among my favorites.
Also, I think Timothy Dalton was very underrated and I love The Living Daylights.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service was great too.
Also the doc everything or nothingI highly recommend the documentary Becoming Bond.
It tells the story of how George Lazenby got the Bond gig, and why he left the franchise after one movie.
What’s this one about? Also the doc everything or nothing
Yeah, rewatching a view to a kill I noticed that they tried to update the formula with a (at the time) more modern soundtrack, title song an credits, casting grace jones as the henchwoman and that whole plot about silicon valley. But they didn't go all the way, once again hiring a Roger Moore and keeping the campy atmosphere of his later movies. The movie might have worked had they hired Timothy Dalton, but as it is, it's the second worst movie of the franchise.Dalton could have done with more than two movies, he should have taken the mantle from Moore sooner than he did
The goat bond documentary. Covers everything from Ian Flemmings backround before writing Bond and casting of the actors, how the two guys involved in getting the films made went about it etc. covers up through casino royale I believe. Dont think you can stream it for free right now may have to pay/rent.What’s this one about?
Where can I stream it

Its a toss up for me because I like both Casino and Goldeneye more than the others.
