Kiss was a better lyricist but Buddens made better songs.
Always felt like that was held him back from dropping the classic we know he's capable of as he can bar you to death but his songwriting isn't on par with his flow and wit with with the pen. Maybe thats because those two set the bench so high?
Probably Budden and I'm saying this as a HUGE Kiss fan. Matter fact Kiss was my first "favorite" rapper in life but Budden has taken me places mentally and emotionally that few rappers have.
He really is quite underrated in that respect as so many heads think he just makes emotionally dead inside, woe is me raps about being on drugs (which he does) but there is a whole load of depth and growth as well. Buddens covers a lot of ground with his disco.
Wonder how that would sound if he'd had a commercial career and was forced to make the sounds people want to hear instead of what he wants to vent
