In terms of having the whole package, is Y2J the GOAT?

Are we really going to sit here and act like the Undertaker isn't the GOAT? :patrice:

Jericho gets a lot of points for his ability to reinvent himself, even this late in his career when he could be coasting on his legacy, and in general he's an all-round great talent.

Complete package should also include drawing power.
Fair, but to play devil's advocate, why do we only simplify the argument this way when it comes to wrestling :patrice:

Nas and Rakim get mentioned in hip hop top 10 lists all the time based on their level of mastery of the craft, while recognizing that they weren't huge album sellers. shyt, Rakim was a gold artist his whole career.

And every genre and artform makes similar concessions. Lord knows the box office smashes don't necessarily feature the GOAT actors and creators.

Now I agree you have to have built some significant notoriety even if you're not a top draw. But if that's the case, Jericho has definitely done that. He's 100% among the top recognizable stars from the Attitude Era after the obvious megastars.

Nah. He's not seeing God, Flair, Savage or Eddie.

You can make an argument Jericho is the smartest though. Most wrestlers don't know what to do once their abiity to be consistently good in ring goes away, Jericho has had 2 HUGE reinventions when it seemed he was fukking DONE as a performer. And both times it meant more money for him and the company he was wrestling for. That's Funk level of greatness right there.

Jericho gets a lot of points for his ability to reinvent himself, even this late in his career when he could be coasting on his legacy, and in general he's an all-round great talent.

Agreed. I do think there should be more balance to the deserved praise he gets for reinventing himself and the valid criticism you could give him for the quality of his matches going down. And not even THAT good during the 90's.

Jericho is not THAT old. And he's more part time than any legend at his current age. As I said, that just shows how smart Jericho is, but his longevity is overstated imo.

In terms of overall creativity with changing his character over the years, he might be the legit GOAT

But actual GOAT in terms of overall talent? nah.
