Pap had the streets of NYC on lock at one point in time. He would have done well if he dropped his debut in the early 2000s during the G-Unit/Dipset/Roc-a-fella era, unfortunately by the time he got his deal and navigated through all of the delays surrounding The Nacirema Dream the sound of mainstream hip-hop had already started to move on and his style was outdated.
He was a good rapper but can’t make a good song to save his life Same for Joe Budden, Corey guns Jae mills and a ton of other rappers from that era. Mixtape freestyle had a lot of people fooled on who was actually a good artist. And I’m saying this as someone who also thought he had next

"on lock" is a huge stretch, but he definitely had a decent buzz that looked like he couldve potentially blew up after

He even called himself the savior of rap :to:

Just never lived up to the hype:

I remember this song being a banger back in the days too :wow:

That lil 2006-2008 era of music before the modern era took off for real was a cool lil vibe fr

Papoose signed to Jive and he and Kayslay hit a lick when he didn't have to pay the advance back from em.. 1.5 mill to be exact

They tried to make Pap into a commercial artist which didn't help, its good because I couldn't see Pap making songs like Pop, Lock it, Drop It or Ay Bay Bay.

Pap has the stench of NY on him all the way to the fitted down to his Gino Green shirt to his timbs.

S/O to Papoose for not riding the Souths dikk though

Always thought he was just a corny punchline rapper
Have you looking at defeat like a foot doctor

Papoose's attempt at making dope punchlines were very comical to me.

"I have more wins than a Hurricane"

"Your man's made more statements than a bank"

I bet Pap used to have a magazine next to him

Papoose was everywhere when he was buzzing. His mixtapes were everywhere. And Every Thursdays he was being played on Kayslay on HOT 97.

I miss that era

Papoose releasing 100 mixtapes every month, Jae Millz, Saigon, Sha Stimuli, Cory Gunz/Militia, Nickelus F, Brooklyn Newz, A-Team/all of Desert Storm, Grafh :wow:

Half of the mixtape just being freestyles on industry beats and DJs yelling all over the track :wow:
