Listen to Dot and Cole’s very first 4 tapes when they were 18 & up.
They touched on a multitude of topics while being extremely relatable. The songs were creative and you felt the passion they put into their tapes. You felt the rise. Even if they started off rough.
The problem now is, a lot of these nikkas can rap, but they are really lacking when it comes to putting together a meaningful body of work.
Saba has his peers (the new artists right now) beat when it comes to discography imo.
Let’s look at Dot’s first 4 tapes age 18 & up
Training Day
C4 (rough)
Kendrick Lamar EP
Overly Dedicated
Cole’s tapes age 18 & up
The Come Up
The Warm Up
Friday Night Lights
Sideline Story
Saba’s age 18 & up
Get Comfortable
Comfort Zone
Bucket List
Care For Me (current) 23/24yrs old
What they all have in common is that not only do they improve with each release (consistency), but they each have powerful songs within them. Strong concepts and all touch on a multitude of different things. You can see the greatness building. And the rapping is A1. You can relate to it and they each have an actual story to tell. None of it is like “Let me preach to you” it’s more like “Let me tell you how I feel about this and let me tell my story” They also get a little more famous with each release.
(SS as a whole may not be Cole’s best, but it still got him deep in the game early)
Some examples of some strong strong records:
He’s the only one with the storytelling talent too
(2parts)
+
Some more comparisons
Etc. You can compare this shyt. From different topics, to song structure, to flow. They are all in a similar space of greatness and potential.
No other newcomer tapes are there. They don’t have the songs either. Dude is the only one that “gets it” imo. I see him outlasting every one of his current peers.
But yeah had to put this out there after listening to the all the other newer artists releases this year man. Lol this the only thread imma make, salute.
TLDR: Compare the songs, topics, concepts, flows and tapes between thier first 4 releases 18 & up.
