it needs to happen so Floyd can make these cacs  to the highest extent. but other than that in the history of boxing i dont know. has there ever been a time where the two top boxers at the time didnt face eachother?

Yes, very recently in fact; Roy and Bernard for years and years couldn't get it together, and by the time they did fight Roy was WELL over the hill and nobody gave a fukk about the fight any more anyway. Not to mention Sugar Ray Leonard retiring instead of fighting Marvin Hagler, but he came back later and fought (and beat) him.

It's a big fight for boxing in terms of the attention and money it will generate but it's not the best fight for the boxing fan...

Anything can happen in the ring but the boxing fan knows the outcome to this fight, it's been obvious to anyone who knows a damn thing about the sport and isn't blinded by hate...The boxing fan only wants to see this fight to finally get it over with...For the last 5 years we have been swarmed and invaded by Pactards and similar idiots who don't know shyt about boxing...We're simply tired of dealing with these people and our only salvation is this fight finally becoming official...

The casual fan wants this fight because they were lead to believe in a fraud...That fraud of course is Pacquiao the catch-weight king...What attracts the casual fan to watch a Mayweather fight is the prospect of him losing and Bob Arum along with HBO have done a great job piggy backing Pacquiao onto Mayweathers name...

Pacquiao was placed in the ring against damaged handicapped opponents with big games in the sport to beef up his image as that guy to shut Mayweather up...He delivered the KO's and the casual of course was impressed...Pacquiao stopped DLH and Mayweather didn't !!! How could Mayweather beat a guy who throws 1000 punches and hits like Mike Tyson? The answer to that question of course is simple, the sport is called the "sweet science" for a reason and JMM showed us what that science is on three separate occasions against Pacquiao...That didn't matter to the casual though because JMM is not Mayweather...They're right he isn't, Mayweather is bigger, stronger, faster and whole lot more craftier...For whatever reason the casual fan cannot comprehend that and hence the desire for this fabricated "megafight"...

Hoepfully these guys agree to reasonable terms and get it over with...

Save boxing?

You don't truly watch or follow this sport if you think one fight saves boxing...its problems are FAR worse and MUCH deeper than "Say, I wonder who would win between..."

I think Tim Bradley is going to be a tougher fight than many people think. Boxing starts and ends with the heavyweight divison and the sport will continue to suffer until that division gets better.

Da city where the skinny nikkas die

This. these lil nikkas aren't really exciting to the public. the sport is at its best when its big dudes knocking each other out.

mayweather fights JUST started becoming interesting to the casual fan. even he realizes that he's gotta show some flash out there or the casuals won't wanna see it

Floyd and Cotto will do somewhere over 2 million PPV buys, only bested by a few fights ever. I remember when people said Floyd and Oscar was needed to save boxing, and that wasn't the case then either.

While it would be great for Boxing leading up to the fight and during it Boxing has slipped so far in this country in terms of poularity and is off the mainstreams radar so far because of lack of heavyweights that even that fight will not save it just give it great pub finally for a few months..

sad part about it is, if those 2 complete a trilogy, boxing wont have anything else to look forward to.

Not as big as it was before pac-marquez III
Since that day there's no doubt in my mind mayweather would beat pac if they ever fought.
