I've seen the damage it does first hand as the uneducated are pimped by these fake priests very often in all parts of Africa. It's not harmless and it's debatable what religion does more harm. I seen so many people in Africa who were born with medical conditions, deformities and ailments attribute it to curses and live out miserable lives thinking they were hexed instead of seeing a medical professional they keep dealing with witchdoctors and never escape their misery.

That I agree with , BUT religion for in Africa has always been used as a weapon for different people over the years so I slightly disagree , before we had extremism in Africa the colonialists and the Arabs used it as a tool for exploitation....
