In a lot of ways, it feels like Brian De Palma is underrated as director, is he?

DePalma is definitely a Hitchcock fanboy and he pays homage to him in probably 80-90% of his movies but the only movie of his that was really DePalma setting out to do his version of Hitchcock was Body Double and even then he went a step further than Hitchcock would have done with the sex and nudity.

I saw the film Body Double a few months ago for the first time, that was a crazy ass film.

Oh no, I know Scarface is probably his most notable film, but I was talking about in terms of his artistic peak as a director.

I saw Blow-Out a few weeks ago on Pluto TV

That was a very well written and directed film by De Palma.

I think he blew his wad too early. He's made some pretty bad movies over the years but he still has some classics under his belt.

The art matters more to him than anything which he why he's taken the chances he has.

Keep in mind Scarface was originally rated X. And the Kennedy movie fiasco.

I'm sure he's not losing any sleep.
