I live in Atlanta, I'm going to be 28 next month, and I feel like I've been in a deep slump for the last couple of years. I had jumped up to 290lbs, and I feel like something has to be done before I hit 300. There was a time when I was about 5'11 - 6 ft about 200 lbs and 17% body fat. Not perfect, but I was working on it and felt great.

After gaining 90 lbs, I feel like this weight gain is really affecting my game, and destroying my self-esteem. I used to get approached by women, even on the low while I was out with a female already, but now due to my size, I have a hard time keeping a female's attention period.

Before, I was just moderately in shape, and not much else. I didn't have a car, I didn't have much money, I didn't have my own place, and I was working part time making minimum wage, and was pulling females like crazy, even had some chicks giving me keys to their apartment. Today, I'm not even getting a fraction of that success out here.

Any of you guys been in a slump like this before, or know anyone that has? What did you guys do to get out of it and get your health back in order?

You too young to be in a slump like that. Best to get on it now before it's too late. What's your diet looking like? What about your fitness? It's all mind control. If you want to see results, you gotta be focused to put in the work. Don't think of it as so you'll have the girls but so you'll have better health. Baby steps breh. Join in on the discussions and the challenges here and listen to the experts and they'll get you right. Set yourself a goal and go for it. Keep us posted on your progress. Do it for you, not for anyone else.

You need to address whatever caused you to gain almost a hundred lbs. Outside is a reflection of the inside. As far as women go, some are more superficial than ever, so that's not working in your favor.

When you take care of that make sure you lose the weight slowly or you may have a good amount of excess skin.

This isn't about food or working out. Something else is going on.

My diet is the worst. Pasta, Doritos, McDonald's, Burger King, Steak and Shake, etc. I have grilled chicken, but I have not touched that in weeks.

My fitness is subpar at best. I'm at the point where I can do most exercises outside of calisthenics, but not too many reps.

My biggest issue with weight loss and staying consistent with workouts, is procrastination. I will procrastinate until it's almost time for me to go to work, or go to sleep, then tell myself that I'm not going to have enough time to work out.

I work for myself, so my work schedule is very sporadic. Therefore, it's hard to pinpoint a time for me to workout everyday.

Gotta start small and go from there. Start with the diet. One thing you can do is start drinking more water, especially with your meals. If you get the fast food combos, switch from sodas to water. Do that and then move on to something else like getting small fries instead of medium or medium instead of large. Focus on one thing for now and set a goal to complete it. My diet isn't perfect and I definitely don't have a six pack yet. But gotta stay disciplined. You say you work for yourself. Is it a stationary or mobile job? Another good idea is to eat fruits. Buy a bag of apples and snack on one daily, or any other fruit you may like.

I work as a local courier, delivering items from point A to point B. It gets really difficult, because I spend so much time on the road. It becomes difficult to really schedule anything

Yeah I see what you mean. Just focus on small changes and see from there. Remember that fast food is the same every time. You not missing out on anything. Switch it up every once in a while from like McDonald's to something else. Or maybe a healthier option from the menu. All about baby steps.

I agree that there's something else going on causing you to eat to excess

But as far as what to do.... get a setup like this:

Home-Workout-Equipment-Bike-Magnetic-Trainer-Stand-Cycling-Fitness-Gym-Blue-New-5a94046e8c5ef._SL1500_

Just a cheap road bike and a magnetic trainer. Add a tall table to that so you can put a laptop on and work or fukk around. You ride that for 60-90 minutes a day and get control of your diet... you should be able to lose 1-2 lb a week no problem.

But yea do some soul searching, weight gain doesn't happen by accident.

What caused the increase in weight OP?

Emotionally you straight, breh?

I don't know. The weight gain started when I started dealing with a chick back in 2012. After we stopped seeing each other, I had jumped up to 240 from 200 when we met. Put on some pounds over the winter, and slacked on my workouts while me and her were kicking it. Put it this way:

When I was up north, everybody knew me as a big dude, so when I lost the weight, that got me hella attention when I went back to visit. Then I jumped up the 240, and when I went back to visit, all I heard was "Damn you starting to get big again!"

In Georgia, pretty much all of my friends only knew me at 200 lb. But I jumped up to 240, all I heard was "damn you getting big!"

When I was smaller, it would take me no more than 2-3 dates to smash any chick that I went out on a date with, then it turned into a struggle to get attention from women at all, and the weight just kept creeping up:mjcry:

I started to feel worse and worse about myself, and kept eating as a way to cope with stress.

Your self esteem took a hit, breh. We all been there :wow:.

It’s some good suggestions on how to get back on track physically. It’s good that you recognize your triggers and are open to making a change to better yourself.

Don’t trip off these youngins, they gonna always be here regardless of your size.

Focus on your health, breh.

Self Care = Self preservation and that includes not being so hard on yourself - especially since you seem like your making the right steps.

:salute:
