Culturally, if you aren't black, Boomerang won't hit you like it hit us.

With that said, the first article wasn't racist at all. He made points that I don't agree with mostly, but were still logical. Didn't read anything else after that.
Naw, that's bullshyt. Black people watch culturally white movies all the fukking time with no problem. But white people act like watching a culturally black movie, especially one that puts black people in a positive light, is like learning a new language.

Be honest, though. Don't a lot of black people (especially in the hood) feels the exact same way that white man does? :manny::francis:

I never understood why white people have to put their worthless two cents on anything relating to black culture.
These same clowns be the main ones saying we need our own shyt, but they still wanna control our narrative.
You don't see these pussies ever doing and saying this to any other non black people.

How did we go from Boomerang, Waiting To Exhale, The Wood to what we see today? :mjcry:

Absolute classic and I will show my kids when they are old enough. Comedy on corporate Black America without buffonery etc. It's crazy and sad how the 90s had so much unapologetically Black entertainment that was neither buffoonery, c00ning, nor dropping agendas. Even the Black lady films like Waiting to Exhale revolved around Black people with Black love interests (except Angela Basset's husband who bucked out).

I am not sure such films would be made today. Boomerang if re-made probably would have made David Allen Grier's character gay (even though Nelson (Geoffrey Holder) probably was gay in the movie). Waiting to Exhale would probably be more on a Joy Luck Club "happiness through swirling" tip. Oh well.

:mjlol: You must’ve missed the 2019 “new-black” continuation of Boomerang. Made by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry lol. Where Marcus gotten metoo lol.

Orrr people find it easier to relate to characters that look and sound like them which is why Sex & The City/Friends/SNL are big for white people while Girlfriends/Living Single/In Living Color capture a blacker audience

Boomerang is the embodiment of where black cinema needs to go. Movies like Boomerang, Life, Dead Presidents, and even The Best Man just had this amazing fulfillment that maybe, just maybe, black folks are human fukking beings, instead of walking minstrel shows.

Same went with Robert Townsend who exposed what was wrong with the movie industry but got BTFO when The Meteor Man came out, which sadly was underrated imo and did not deserve the flack that it received.

Hell, even the independent flicks like this one for instance:

MV5BMzFjNmNmZmYtOTNkZS00ZjBmLTg2MjgtOTYzZDlhMDBmZjgwXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjMwMjk0MTQ@._V1_.jpg

Had a creative approach to black cinema. It just pains me that we will never get over this slump of having to get involved with the same fukking tropes that box stereotypes in a binder of creativity, ala hood flicks :francis: .

I still get angered that Life did not get the recognition that it deserved, as it was considered a "comedy", rather than a drama with comedy aspects.

White people really believe shyt like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings (which I love both) is more believable than a movie that has a majority black cast that's successful. :wow:

Breh white folks would burn down buildings and destroy blocks to make you believe that "Game of Thrones" is reality, but will yell in your fukking face that "Wakanda isn't real" and there's no such thing as an all black futuristic utopia :mjpls:
