It matters on the offensive side and was a factor as well last night. As far a rebounding goes, Luke Kornet is slow footed and plays in slow motion, a lot of rebounds last night had to do with him not reacting fast enough to missed shots, at this point Joe gotta play whoever is available and Kornet is usually available. Last night Grant was hot from 3 so he rode the hot hand, Tatum is a good rebounder and he had a choice of Kornet, Blake, Muscala to play the 5.
Its actually a BENEFIT on the offensive side. With a legit big you get more offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points. If you are not the Warriors, small ball has NEVER worked and will never work if you want to be a championship contending team. Joe continues to copy Brad's small ball style of jacking up 3's with no inside presence and next to nothing on mid-range shots
Lets look at the last NBA champions going back 10 years ago
2013: Miami Heat
2014: Spurs
2015: Warriors
2016: Cavs
2017: Warriors
2018: Warriors
2019: Raptors
2020: Lakers
2021: Bucks
2022: Warriors
With the exception of the 2015 and 2022 Warriors, All the teams had big lineups who were effective rebounding teams
Grant being hot from 3 was just that... he was hot from 3. When push came to shove, his 3 point shooting didn't negate the lack of rebounding and 2nd chance points and him getting blocked at the last shot of the game
I been saying this "3 point hot streak" in the beginning of the season was unsustainable. Now the chickens are coming home to roost
