i fear Abrams would have wanted to connect it to Chris Reeves somehow which was the problem with Supes Returns. Margot Kidder would have been Ma Kent probably. The story was horrible for MoS but the action made it worth it. We needed to see how powerful Supes was and the final action scene in MoS showed that...

Moriarty at AICN reviewed the script Abrams wrote and this was the most egregious thing about Abrams version of Superman.


It sounded like it would have been a clusterfukk.

I still contend that a lot of the hatred for MOS comes from people who only want a Superman movie in the mold of the Reeves/Donner Superman movies.

While I agree with them the script is horrible you could do this to any script, be it Superman or not, and spin it so it sound terrible. Ofcourse a script I hate is going to sound like its awful when I explain in cliff note form for others that haven't read the script.

Could be but it doesn't change my initial statement. A lot of the angrier reviews when it first came out were colored by people's obvious affection for Reeves/Donner Superman.
And if you note I never said all of the hatred just some.

This myth that there's people wanting a Reeves/Donner Superman movie is bullshyt. Same goes for saying people wanted a Superman Returns-like movie (which is the same thing practically because that one harkens back to the Reeves/Donner Superman).

People want a Superman movie that actually interprets the character and his legacy right, something that many writers have been able to pull off in the comics, in a modern setting, for years now! So there's no excuse for these filmmakers to keep fukking shyt up when they could adapt a ton of stories that would sell audiences on Superman's place in modern society without shytting on everything he stands for!

i really don't think it's that cut and dry though. everyone could tell just from the first few trailers that this wasn't gonna be anything like donner's superman and yet it still didn't stop the movie from opening huge.
