90’s defense> 2000’s defense> 80’s defense

Y’all still not convincing me the 80’s defense was so “brutal”

I will say this..... a combination of either old heads like me or young Niccas with agendas that hate certain current players love to exaggerate just “how tough” defense was back then or how violent it was.

Like yes there was small shyt with certain teams.

But back then if you watched say a Clipper vs Cleveland game. You not seeing these so called bloodbath matchups like say Pistons vs Celtic games

It’s a reason when everytime someone brings up hard fouling defense they normally bring up Bad Boy Pistons (maybe Knicks) but it stops about there

After watching the first two episodes this thread is even more hilarious :laff:
Bron doc will be epic :mjpls:
When the fukk did Lebron become 6'9 280 man is 250 at it's his best.
Miami he was like 275 lb. no cap he went down to 250 when he returned to Cleveland to prolong his career started having back issues.

LeBron probably wouldn’t score 63 he’s not the aggressive scorer MJ is.

But against this defense he’s putting up a triple double with 45-50 points.

If y’all watch the Last Dance. MJ was coming off a foot injury and the Celtics didn’t know what to expect that series. The Bulls coach at the time Stan Albeck purposefully put MJ in isolation situations throughout the game. This was a high scoring 2OT game into the 130’s. MJ specifically said I took advantage of my youth and energy against the Celtics.

It’s why citing the Celtics team defensive rating or how they defended bigs like Akeem is irrelevant.

In isolation on an island on the perimeter there’s no way Danny Ainge, Rick Carslile, Larry Bird, Bill Walton, Scott Wedman can defend a young LeBron James in space. DJ was an elite defender but he’s giving up size. It’s no way they would be able to defend the guys that came after MJ. The D-Wade’s, KD’s, Kobe’s, Melo’s, Iverson’s just throwing cacs on them in isolation situations.

Those are easy 50 and 60 pieces for them. I really don’t know why y’all dismiss the zone defense rules and act like these white boys have the foot speed to stay in front of athletic players with elite on-ball skills. The defense in the OP is not effective against an elite scorer it’s that simple.
