Floyd's pull counter is very good but my favorite is James Toney's version of it. All he did was turn his body/waist slightly, use his shoulder to protect himself & kinda roll with the punch & came back with a powerful counter right hand. And JT had variations of this punch whether it was straight or the overight hand. If you were a big right hand reliant fighter JT shut you down easily with this move. This is the old out of shape JT doing this:

JT shuts G-Man down in this sparring session:

James Toney spent the bulk of his career bullshytting in the "discipline" department and still ended up a HOF'er. Dude was beyond gifted.

If you had to teach someone who never boxed two moves one offensive one defensive what would they be

offensive? Jab. Defensive? Jab :shaq: + head movement drills and footwork drills

when I started to teach my son we drilled jabs for like a good two months before moving on to his straight left and various combinations. Drilled it up top, downstairs, counter jabs and the various ways the opponent can counter a jab. There are only so many ways to counter& slip a jab so if you throw one and you already know the ways he is going to react to it you can counter the counter. If you notice in all of the krack jr gifs it's mostly him working stuff off of the jab and counter punching.

No doubt co sign this

Jabbing as a defensive tool, jabbing+slipping, jabbing+circling are what the infrastructure of a boxer is made up of

I started teaching lil man since he was a toddler but nothing serious until he was about 7 or 8. As a toddler I would play fight with him and when he would go beat me up I would do defenssive movements and use footwork/headmovement. Eventually your kid will start to mimicking the stuff you do everytime you guys play fight but you're really building up his reflexes and awareness.
