To be fair, I don't blame black women who try to claim mixed race status considering that many black men openly fetishise mixed race women whilst degrading those with more fuller features. Black men are partly to blame. If there were more black men who appreciated black features, we wouldn't have black women claiming they have Indian blood or they're not black inorder to make themselves more appealing to black men

Thank you! It's a phenomenon I am trying to fight and address among my sisters but it isn't easy.

Unlike what the studies say there are many young black women who put a front. Many are very insecure about their worth and their looks. I foresee the suicide rates to continue to rise among young black girls...there's a generation shift between black women of yesteryears and black women of this current and future generation. I foresee that strong black woman archetype cracking as more young black girls cone forth with their insecurities and lack of coping skills. If blacks around the world don't take notice and change the direction their going In a drastic way, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Too many blacks hate themselves and it shows in how we treat/acknowledge each others existence.

Sure there are issues of colorism in the black community. It's a vicious cycle of media influence and community influence. There are lots of educated women with knowledge of self though who wear their hair naturally and appreciate their natural skin tones, so it shouldn't necessarily be an excuse. Black men aren't beyond reproach either.. music and media are a big influencer of this. The whole idea of local chicks calling themselves "foreign" because they have lighter skin tone is the height if ignorance.

It's more than just an issue....it is entrenched even in organization that is supposedly fighting for and in support of black rights. It is a cancer, in which black women get a big brunt of it. Check what some black male posters are saying about black women in general, in favour of a white woman in black face. Read the stuff going on in the black Panther party, read on the history of the foundation of hbcu. Read about the black populations and the many race classifications throughout south america, apartheid south africa, Louisiana creoles, etc... Colorism has gone way past a simple issue amongs blacks, it fuels self destructive behaviour. We talk about white racism, let's also talk about internal racism towards one another when whites are not around.
