ATL, but rasied in DMV
Were they high-powered, bright, well-educated career women who managed to avoid scandal at the start of their lucrative careers?
Don't quite know how to answer your question, but the first girl, who was marriage material, was someone that I dated way back in college. Then she ran into me years later while I was on my job as a guard, at this popular tourist attraction in DC that I worked at. This was about 14 years after we stopped dating. As sweet as she was, she walked right pass me without even speaking, something she never would have done. I bumped into her about twice within two years after we stopped dating, and we were always on good terms. I hadn't seen her again until this day on my job. Her acting this way sort of blew my mind, but not quite as bad as she did when I was dating her. Anyway, I could hardly recognize her, not because of the years that passed by, but because she looked practically homeless, and her mind clearly wasn't all the way there, and her body was gone. Her clothes were very old, and nothing was matching, plus she was wearing old sneakers. I think she was even wearing a scarf. She went from looking and carrying herself like Abby Phillip to looking like a skeezer in the streets that had a mental breakdown. The only reason she even spoke back to me was because when she walked by without speaking, I asked her, with sort of a rough tone, "What's wrong with you?", as if she was still my girlfriend. I was really joking, because I was so sure it wasn't her, and I was ready to explain to her that she reminded me of an old girlfriend. But she still didn't respond. So I took the joke further and called out her name, and she finally responded. So it actually was her. I asked her what happened, and she told me she didn't want to talk about it. And she walked away. I think I saw her coming back my way a little later while I was being relieved by another guard to go on my break. The only reason I didn't wait for her was because I thought she may have overheard me telling the relieving guard about her and our passed relationship, and my pride was a little hurt. I don't remember what I told this relieving guard, but she instantly told me she could tell that girl blew my mind. And from her mind-state, this could have given her reason to walk away again, and embarrass me in front of all my co-workers. Plus this girl had a little too much pride, even back when we were dating, and I could tell she was still holding on to the pass, as far as her pride was concerned.

Yeah, this girl clearly blew my mind back in the day, but she always contended that I left her...probably because she felt guilty, at least she felt guilty back then, and she should have. One way or another, she clearly wasn't in no position to have anybody kissing her butt anymore, like I did when we were dating. Btw, this is the girl that I was almost a simp for back in the day, and I mentioned her the other day in that "ultimate simp song" thread. It's a coincidence that this thread got bumped the day after I bumped that thread. It's almost as though you knew this was the girl I was referring to. Anyway, I never thought this would happened to a girl who I met at a prestigious White university (which was a big deal back then), who had a cop for a father, and a school teacher for a mother, and who I never ever heard cuss. Although she was going to this White university, she was from DC when it was still Chocolate City, and she was still living there, although she was living on campus. So this made her Black enough I guess. There was so much I wanted to tell her that day on my job, including the fact that I was about to finally graduate in one month from that prestigious White university we met at, the school we both had eventually withdrew from. And no I'm not going to say we dropped out. You drop out of high school, not college. I never appreciated people telling someone they dropped out of college, which is 56% of the people who ever attend, and much higher for Blacks, especially when they attend a prestigious White university like this one. In fact, we shouldn't be using terms like "high school dropout" neither, but I digress.

At any rate, a month later I finally graduated from that college, and wounded up finally leaving that guard job that same month, and began working as an IT specialist, and I never turned back. Then I retired early. I really wanted to put it in her face that I was graduating from that college in a month, but I never got around to it. I guess compared to where she was in life, I was doing real good, and it would have probably made her more mentally ill. I mean, at least I was in the Federal Government. So if this girl ever came back to my old job a month later, I was gone for good this time. I think she actually saw me before on the job, and I think I saw her, but I didn't believe it was her at the time. You'd think she already learned to stop playing hard to get after 14 years...smh. I guess she thought I'd never leave that job. So much for still taking me for granted. But she still must have really been sick walking by me like that after all those years, and it appears she clearly was, no pun intended. She was obviously living in a made up world, and probably only a few people could reach her, and I was only barely able to do it. Nonetheless, you'd think I would have been glad to see her get paid back, but this was pretty bad to see happen to someone, especially someone you had a relationship with, who was so nice. What was strange was, she didn't look too embarrassed when I recognized her. She seemed more concerned about having the upper hand, and being able to walk away from me again after 14 years, while switching that nice behind. But this time when she walked away, not only did she not have all her mind, she had no behind, or body. That's when I realized how sick she was. Then on the other hand, her walking by me all that time, and not speaking, even when I finally recognized her, really showed me how sick she was, other than how she was dressed. Although she may have been holding me a little accountable, she knew she made some pretty bad decisions to cause her outcome. I haven't had too many girls I've dated turned out worst than my daughters mother, and that's saying a lot. Can you imagine a future Abby Phillips turn out like this. That was her in a nutshell. I'm not sure where she is today, and she's never on any kind of social media...facebook, etc...

I know this was a long response for just you, but sometimes when I respond to a question, the answer is also directed to anybody who's reading it, which is common in an open forum. Anyway, to halfway answer your question, she had all the potential to be an Abby Phillip. And tbh, when I see Martin and Gina, it sometimes remind me of when she and I were dating, with us, including Martin, being from the DMV and all, and of course me still being young, and a little hard-headed in my own way without even knowing it. I believe all brothers had at least a little knuckle-headness when they were young, and from the hood. She even had this girlfriend that I didn't get along with too tough. Anyway, she was so soft spoken that she often made me sound like I was the aggressor, although she still kinda had me by the balls, as they say...and I know that's a White boy term...lol.

But to finish answering your question, the second girl (this one wasn't marriage material), graduated from Howard University Law School. and had a career in this law firm that she hated...so what else is new. But her personality didn't fit her pretty looks one bit. So the answer would be a big no to your question for her. On the other hand, she did have a little personality, but it turned out she had a rude unsettling character towards me. I'm not sure if that was just an act or what, but one way or another, she went way too far with it. On a positive note, she did look a little more like Abby Phillp than the first girl. Btw, I think Abby looks even better on television than she does in these photo's posted in this thread. Not only does she look better, but you can also see her glowing personality when she's on live.

@Laidbackman ,

With that long ass post, you turned this thread into a Dear Abby Column (pun)
