I would have done time in the county. I would have expanded my network in jail with all the other Asians cons, and I would have come out with more connections and more respect.

From that I would have probably involved myself more heavily in the the Game. Basically the some of the top guys out there are my lifelong friends. I probably would have been a part of that. Especially if I went to jail.

I worked under a boss who had that mindset. She favored black employees and she always tried to hire blacks.

We (non-blacks, and yes Include myself in that group) all saw what she was doing, and we were fukking pissed off everyday. A few employees complained to HR, and it always went no where. No company would ever do anything about that type of discrimination.

I was on SOHH.com being so racist at that time because I was so angry at the discrimination that I faced and that all my fellow employees were facing.

I always had the best performance reviews, and I never was promoted. It was always some black guy/girl who promoted. When she was eventually replaced by this white lady, I got a promotion within in month. and then people on this site say I have identity issues?

Don't try to blame your racism on anything other than natural instinct... you can blame your sohh rants on your boss tho.

But in reality most senior level or influential Black professionals that keep an eye for other hopeful blacks, also hire and help C@Cas.. Sure they aren't as proud or enthusiastic about it, but business is business and fair is fair.

But we all know that blacks have to try harder (in general). At a place I worked at about 5 years ago, Every black person had a Masters except one (me-but I have a special skill set) and the whites had one Masters, one GED!!!, and one BS, and they were getting paid. We all got paid pretty well, but it just wasn't fair that these CAC's got in because of the long history of CACas looking out for one another, and we had to get credentials then present ourselves 'Well'.

Every young black that is helped by another black man or woman; can be put in a position to help another one.. so that mentality is one organic piece of our overall solution.

I'm realizing my dreams, i made it to the final round interviews for the top companies in the nation. I'm not completely there yet, but I feel it happening.

I'm not smart. I don't have a high IQ. I'm from the ghetto, and I grew up poor.

I graduated with no debt in undergrad because i workEd 40 hours a week! And i still had 3.9! I just recently completely very rigorous school program and worked way more than 40 hours a week and i still got a 3.6.

I'm not special, i'm not smart. I did it without the support of the government or social welfare or my parents. Why am i wrong to expect everyone else to have the tenacity and balls to do what I routinely accomplish?

What makes me different? Nothing!

That's what I was about to say.

But either way, it's good that you seem to be on the right track, but you should humble yourself. You clearly had things going for you that a lot of other kids out there don't have. Most kids have to work or hustle to put food on their plate because mom's 2-3 jobs aren't making ends meet. Some kids have to leave school. Too many young black males are institutionalized and forcibly removed from having these opportunities that you have enjoyed.

They bigger question is what are going to do with this potential success and how will you use it to better those in your community who lack these opportunities. As someone who has achieved some level of personal success already these are the questions I ask myself everyday when I do my work. It's not about touting my own success, but contributing how I can to make sure others achieve the success I have in one way or another.

Maybe you should stop asking this question on the board,and go in your community and ask young brother and sisters this question.Give them the blueprint on how you became sucessful.Become a social worker or a teacher,and teach them the "values" you learned,instead of trying to look down on ppl..Each 1 Teach 1..Make a Difference
