Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
I worked all those years and trying to do things smart and finally was able to pay off my house, car, van, bike and credit cards. Thought it would feel great, like a big burden off my shoulders. I didn't feel nothing.
Not only don't I feel any better, my credit score dropped from almost 840, to like 690. :gucci:

With that said, I'm starting to feel like it's all a scam. And debt is just a way of life. And if you aint using debt/credit to make money, you might as well die in it. Debt that is. Hell I'm 41, I can die at anytime. My Maxima has been excellent and reliable, but it's not how I really want to drive. I want that new Lexus Land Cruiser or a 2018 and up. Really a G-Wagon, but they're lost their mind with those prices. Really, if you don't have any kids or responsibilities. You're working everyday, fukk it, run it up while you here.

I've lived a good life, took chances and lived wild at time, so I havent played it totally safe, now that im over 40. And i'm still working everyday, I might as well drive what i love, go where i want and do what I want. If I regret anything in the future, it'll be playing it safe.

What was the last thing you paid off?

I think the good feeling only comes from the mortgage, tbh

You need to see if there's errors on your credit report, You can get free credit reports on Credit Karma.

Just mathematically being debt free is the way to go Interest rates are through the roof.

Finally Lifestyle changes are hard and the credit card companies know human behavior chances are good that you might find your way back into debt soon. I just paid off a huge debt and even my credit card bill was more than I expected but it will be paid off on time.

I came in here to clown you for bragging about being debt free while renting an apartment, but then I saw this post.

Have you even been back a year? Why are you leaving?

interesting. My net score has been gradually moving up to the high 700’s as I pay off debt. Has your income been going up as you’ve paid debt off, OP?

Do you have negative records on your credit reports? You can pay off mad debt, but if you have collections, evictions, etc on your account it doesn’t matter.

I really came back to update my IT skills and get a remote job. I was out of IT for 6 years. And DC is so expensive and unsustainable. 700k for a small old townhouse. smh

South is more conducive to starting business and just easier to get stuff done.

cuz he lying his ass off

Yeah the OP would have so much extra cash flow each month. He wouldn't even look at credit. Plus if this has been a while he would have a credit score of 700 due to the utilization being low

What’s wrong with credit cards? Use like a debit card and get rewards.
