You don't ask for that and then pull out. At least, it would seem strange to me.

Kawhi to LAL makes a lot of sense.

Could have also been a test to see if Magic would start blabbering about specific details to the media, or others. Then again it would have been an interesting way to get a read on Rob, Buss, and Bron's health/situation.
