It's pretty easy to tell the difference. The majority of Indians speak English. Majority of Sri Lankans don't. India has alot of local languages but low key it's an English speaking country. You could travel there and communicate just fine with the locals. Sri Lanka would be more of a challenge

Sri Lanka and india are two different countries, but even if we only talk about India you can tell the difference between north indians and south indians, the people look different and completely different culture & cuisine.
