Long time ago i met a dude on the job who had an allergic reaction to a flu shot that temporarily paralyzed him for a year. He lost his wife, his home. Had to learn how to walk again... Ever since I've been using that story as my excuse why I'd rather not take a flu shot... Until now..

I caught the flu earlier this week.

I thought I was gonna fukking die :merchant:

Losing a wife, home, being paralyzed for a year with a very challenging recovery :hula: feeling absolutely terrible for less than a week.

This is the argument you’re using to call us idiots for never getting the flu shot?:what:

I’ve never had the flu shot and won’t consider getting it until I’m older and losing confidence in my immune system.

I’d rather risk the bad week than the life changing year. :skip:

I have to get the shot for my job and the Reserves. I tell my Wife every year to get it. She never does. Been sick two this year and was sick for Christmas.
:francis:
I caught the bird flu one year and thought I was going to die. I was in bed for three days straight. I didn’t think I was going to make it.
:merchant:
I didn’t take any meds and was by myself the whole time. Never again.

The guy is was talking about, I believed him. I could tell by the look in his face as he was telling the story he wasn't lying. Plus he wasn't the brightest apple in the bunch or however the saying goes...

Old dude. He said his old job was offering the flu shot one day so he said fukk it and got it. Went home, felt funny. Went to bed. Woke up, couldn't get up for some reason. Tried to crawl to kitchen and next thing he knew he woke up in hospital. He said management from the job came the same day and told him they'd pay all his medical expenses and handed him some documents to sign, that's when I stopped him and said TELL ME YOU DIDNT SIGN THEM :what:.. he said "yea, it's the only way they would pay my medical bills"... I was like you a$$hole those were documents saying you can't sue them, but i didn't say that and let him finish.

Paralyzed for a year, wife divorced gim, lost his home, blah blah,.... said when he was able to walk and work again HE WENT BACK TO THE SAME JOB whom as a show of appreciation gave him his own reserved parking spot...:snoop: and he continued to work there another 10 years.

As sad as this story is, it's a one and a million chance of this shyt happening to you. I just by chance met Mr One out of a million one day on a jobsite a few years ago. The odds of this happening to you is .0000001.. So gtfoh trying to use that as an excuse like I did and get the damn shot

So did you take anything or do anything to fight the infection? Or did you allow yourself to suffer under your blankets/comforters?

I wanted to ride it out but the people in my circle were like get the fukk up and go see a doctor. Checked me out. Tested me for covid, flu, strep etc.. Mf prescribed me antiviral meds.

Can't put your fragileness on other people

Life ain't far and we not all built the same, I'm in great shape and condition meanwhile I've seen classmates pass away from health issues younger than me

Flu shot is not the issue, your immune system shouldn't be that weak to cause all day violent shaking unless your a senior citizen, more than likely u have underlying health issues that were aggravated by the flu

And let me be clear, all doctors are not equal. Just cause one doctor tells u to take a pill and go home doesn't mean u were diagnosed properly

I ain't been sick in damn near 2 decades keep your needles away from me

So lemme get this straight tough guy...

You ain't been sick in over 20 years????

Where do you tell a lie for no reason ass nikkaz come from? :dahell:

That's the most common mistake people make when it comes to colds and flu. Either they ignore the initial signs of a cold/flu or they think they can ride/tough it out without anything. When theyve already wasted a couple of days before going to the doctor. I'm not saying these things will cure the cold/flu once it has come out. It's more about preventing and fighting it off at the first signs. Take paracetamol inhale strong vaporub in hot water with a towel over your head. Drink water drink home remedy drinks. Like Honey lemon with a a bit of scotch/whisky. Or Turmeric Black Pepper Honey and ginger. Having soups etc.

I get emails from my healthcare insurance and sometimes the pharmacy to get my annual flu shot, but I don't really pay it much attention. Truth be told, I've never once had the flu a day in my life, and so far, I have only received the flu shot once as an adult, which was back in 2021, before or after I got my third COVID shot.

I've had a common cold, of course, y'know, the occasional runny, stuffy nose, sore throat, sneezes, and things of that element, something the usual cough drop can handle, but never the flu.

I guess I've been fortunate to be lucky in life cause I rarely ever get sick; one of my cousins, when we were younger, she'd, always used to catch pneumonia during the summer, which was weird.

I'm aware that influenza can sometimes be fatal, turning into pneumonia, depending on the person but I feel like that's one of the least harmful common illnesses a person can catch. Obviously, it's something you'd want to pay attention to but it's not one of these things that make you fear for your life.

I understand that the risk of the bad year is way lower than the risk of the bad week…but it’s still just a bad week.

People aren’t idiots for choosing to take that risk.
