shytted on this show in the Netflix thread cuz watched it high with a broad distracting me...rewatched it the last couple nights and it’s a solid show. :ehh:

I knew Rob was Adele the second they established the souls could switch bodies. Not super early, but I could tell there was something off about the flashbacks well before that. Like, Rob’s book explained how to learn the astral projection (and they showed him counting his fingers in the mental institution), but in flashbacks it was Adele who showed him how to do it AFTER he left the mental institution at her mansion.

For a show with a pretty big twist, the writing held up nicely. :ehh:

I’m not still sure why Louise went into Adele’s body, tho. :patrice:

One of the middle episodes gives it away with the astral projection colors. Rob's projection was blue and Adele's was purple.

I did notice Rob’s was blue and Adele’s was purple, but I ain’t pay much attention to present day “Adele’s” color...but it was blue. :ohhh:

I still don’t understand why Louise immediately jumped into Adele’s body. Any thoughts on that?

I was under the impression Louise jumped in to try and wake/move Adele's unconscious body. Adele was smart enough to drug herself beforehand which left Louise vegetative and helpless afterwards.

I guess that makes sense, although I don’t know why Louise would think that’s possible; Adele had the power for years and and didn’t know it was possible until Rob told her after he read about astral projections online. And even then, it seemed like it was just a theory as they weren’t sure it would work.

Plus, is it even possible if Rob was still in Adele’s body (which Louise thought was the case)? I never got the impression that two souls could occupy the same body at the same time.

I read the book a few years ago, and thought I would enjoy the show, though the book was a C grade thriller, recycled British urban menace unreliable narrator genre fiction from (mostly) better books like Girl On The Train. Usually a handful of yuppies and a one lower class woman in the midst of a killer or something like that. I thought the first episode was so bad, I didn't think I would make it through the rest. No real sense of tension, chemistry, ham fisted flashbacks. I don't even remember the twist.

Is the ending worth it? I'm on episode 4 and the show feels like torture. It's essentially a bedwench soap opera that I have very little interest in.

Watched this a couple weeks ago. I would have enjoyed the twist if...

Astral projection was introduced to us earlier. Once you know what happens, you’re able to spot the vague context clues throughout the earlier episodes but I don’t feel like it was done cleverly enough. They had a shock ending that they wanted to give us and tried to be as vague as possible whilst getting there to maintain their “gotcha” moment.

Read the novel - sometime back - and decided to check out the Series to see how it translated into Live Action. The twist translated well in the book and I particularly found it fascinating. This didn't need this many Episodes. Louise interactions with Sophie highlighted her poor judgment and erraticism. Her mothering with Adam dragged out the series. Five Episodes in and I could barely recount what the other Four are about. This should've been a 3.5 hour movie.
