What angle would you go about it from?
An adaption of City of Thieves by David Benioff. It's a historical fiction about the Siege of Leningrad. A kid trying to survive during the siege is caught looting the body of a dead paratrooper. Normally he'd be executed, but alongside another teenager who is to be executed for deserting the army, the colonel instead gives him the task to find a dozen eggs within a week for his daughter's wedding cake. Story is seriously great and just waiting to be adapted IMO. It also helped inspire The Last of Us
it would be long....i'd start with Toussaint up until the French set up him to Henry Christophe when it was 'coupe tete brulee caye' which translates to cut the head burn the house. sprinkle jean Jacque dessaline in between...
