It's usually a 5 year difference from the person's birth year that you can clearly see that the person had a different childhood from yourself.

I agree that sounds about right..i would have said 4 but i guess somone born in 84 grew up with alot of the same stuff i did though it might be stretching it a little

There's a clear difference between someone born from 86 to 91 and the people born after. I see it all the time. It makes a huge difference. It's because we were basically at the intersection of a lot of things. We still went outside, but came of age in the tech era. Personality-wise we're not like people older or younger than us for the most part (though people may act older or younger depending on who they were around). Also, a lot of the things that came out in the mid and early 80s were repeated to the point where we didn't even realize how much earlier that stuff came out. We thought it was designed for our childhood. I didn't know Ducktales came out in 87 until about 4 years ago. Things did not move as fast.
