Im not american but this is where i live so I have a vested interest in its well being. I couldnt give 2 fukks less about most of its traditions, politics and other nonsense but again, this is my place of residence and if it's doing well i will benefit from it.
Now once it's time for me to move back home or somewhere else ....
Edit: Note that what i said above does not apply to Sports. You can cheer for whoever you want in sports in my opinion even tho id expect people to have a rooting interest in their homeland's success

We are over represented in the US military (Just as much as prison actually but for some reason you see alot black people in prison movies and hardly any in war movies)
The agricultural economy which led to us become a world power was largely driven by slavery.
The Industrial Economy boomed after the end of slavery because of freedman migrating north and taking those jobs. That directly led to us become a superpower world wide.
