1. The Caribbean would still be diverse but the natives would be around and highly visible. Without slavery/colonialism, blacks who immigrate there for business could set up shop much like how you see European investment/tourism in our world.

2. Without soul, American music would be vastly different. While there would be blacks who immigrate to the States, the overall population would be lower and certain music types never would have been created (or created elsewhere and thus have a totally different history/sound/philosophy).

3. Obviously. It would have sped up everything from our current world by centuries. The "Rise of Africa" we speak of today would not be a trending topic - it would have long been established and a fact.

4. Hard to say. English would still be a popular 2nd/3rd/4th language for people. I would venture to say the West, East, North, Center and South would have 2-3 dominant languages/dialects. It might remind a person of India. You have several widely spoken languages and English rests in the background that can help unify/allow communication for those who speak vastly different African languages.

5. I could still see the USA and the UK being powers. Perhaps not as dominant as in this world but still strong. Without a push into Africa, I see the competition in Europe being even more intense. And with the inevitable increased European conflicts, the UK would have conflicted with France even more (perhaps even to the point of outright dominance).

1 a few failed sugar cane plantations and happy natives

2 utterly impossible to predict, i suspect there would be no form of popular music if nobody can create an economic empire with the ability to distribute commercial culture. but within that system, music would evolve in ways nobody would know. maybe they incorporate a little native american beat into their songs...

3 probably not. the landscape doesnt seem conducive to a certain level of urbanization, and the cultures within africa were not pushing each other in warfare or commerce to advance to a level of "super continent". that being said, slavery was a brain drain on west africa, so it is safe to say that west africa would be quite different in this alternate universe

4 since you never said get rid of islamic slavery, i suppose arabic would be quite popular.

5 chances are they would still conquer asia and the americas, so they would have some money, but america would be much weaker.

1)We would be probably talking about the complete annihilation of the indigenous peoples of the America. If you can remember, the Spaniards were killing all the men of power and made the women sex slaves. The only reason why there are traces of the indigenous people in the Americas is because the Europeans stopped using the native men as slaves. Their men couldn't handle the extensive hard labor and disease, so the Portuguese came up with the idea of buying Africans. The Portuguese sold their slaves to Spain when Columbus sailed to the new world and the rest was history. The Americas would probably be nations of only mixed European and native peoples.

2)America wouldn't be the trendsetters of world music(or entertainment, in general). Africans in the western hemisphere has had the greatest influence on world music. Just in America, African Americans created or helped create.... Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Rock & Roll, Dance/Electronica, Modern R&B and Rap.

3)Not sure..... The Arabics could have exerted more power and influence if the Europeans wouldn't have came through.. More of Africa could have turn into Islamic ran countries. Knowing us and the Arabics, we would STILL be fighting them, but we would still have control of most of our land and resources. Toss up either way....

4) 1)Tribal language 2)Arabic/Farsi 3)English

5)Yes but not in the same capacity and not as big.....

1. How would the Carribean look today?

2. How would American mainstream music sound, without the influence of Negro Spirituals?

3. Would Africa be a super-continent?

4. What would be the top languages spoken in Africa?

5. Would America; the UK, and France still be global super-powers?

This is a very :ohhh: topic, so I'd appreciate any legit input.

Sorry to say it but there is no such thing as legit input on this topic. It's a fantasy. :yeshrug:
