Thats the point of it.

The contenders/big markets spend over the cap and the NBA uses the Luxury tax dollars to subsidize the small market teams

You really can't if you are trying to win. Only way a team can be under the cap and competitive is if they have a bunch of young guys on their rookie deals playing at a high level (OKC, CHI).

Trying to win ≠ spending a shytload of money on players...

Indiana was under the cap, and held their own against the Heat.

the quick come up is what far too many GM's lust over

But Indy lost , the point is those teams aren't going to win titles the most they hope for is getting out the first round

shyt is dumb

They do contracts where players get 10% annual raises but the salary cap only jumps by 1-2% each year

The shyt don't add up

True, but Its not just good players, role players get those raises too

Year one: player x makes 15 mil, salary cap is 55 mil
Year two: player x makes 16.5 mil, cap is 55.5 mil
Year 3 player x makes 18 mil, cap is 56 mil

In 3 years one player has gone from making 27% of the cap to 33% of the cap.....now imagine that happening with 5 or 6 guys at once. How do you expect teams to be under the cap and competitive without those rookie slave deals?

shyt is not going to happen. They are not forcing shyt. To be honest it might cause the opposite effect. I can see more nikkas now taking less money to help these super teams forming.

The new CBa trying to make it so players take less for good team or head to the bobcats , I don't think they foresaw the players not bring greedy b*stards .
The owners only care about money . Next CBa they say the players joining up on one team lowered too many teams value we need more of a cut .

The owners really didn't think it through they let the hardline owners ( mj , spurs, suns, gilbert ) run shyt like these nikkas will follow the money. They fail to realize that a smartly run team is the only alternative to a big markets. Noone wants to sign in Charlotte when they might go into a fire sale any day . People will sign in Memphis cause they are competitive, people don't wxnt to go to Tdot/Houston who look like they running around with there heads cut off .
fukk these owners trying to own the game

These owners think, live, and die by money. That is all they know.. 99% of owners never picked up a ball in their life. They love money not basketball. They really forget the players 1st love was basketball, playing the shyt for free. Their dreams as kids was to be like Mike not get paid like him.
