It frees up money so they can make a bigger offer for a left fielder they still have money to spend they didnt want to spend on hanson bc they didnt see him as being worth it, but they didnt have to trade him which tells me they're making cuts in one area to use it in another, and we all know they need a left fielder with prado moving to 3rd. also I saw an article on mlb where the uptons were talking about playing together and i.think that's part of the reason bj came to atlanta. Atlanta does have a lot of arms in the bullpen and they cant keep all of them, it's just speculation at this point but they have a lot of prospects to offer.
