I like the Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. They did a lot to weave in and out the different stories. The best part is that Skynet sends multiple terminators on different missions to ensure their inception, while Connor sends back several soldiers with their own missions. Yet, everyone doesn't stay on the path.

This part showed the Terminator completing his mission and just standing in front of the bunker door until Skynet is active.
If he is disturbed, he kills and then goes back into sleep mode.
