If Next Friday wasn't a sequel do you think it would be held in higher regard?

Probably not. Some people claim its not a good movie, but its still full of quotes and scenes that many people consider to be classic. And Mike Epps and Michael Blackson have been working for 20 years off the strength of it. Doubt that would be the case if it wasn't a Friday sequel...

I saw it in 2000 on video, before I graduated 8th grade, so we all kind of loved it. It isn't the same type of movie, Friday is more grounded in reality, and Next Friday, probably due to the studio's influence, and F Gary Gray's absence, is more of a screwball type of comedy. It has some funny moments, but the caricatures are more exaggerated, less realistic portrayals, honestly the comedy is more based on a white persons view, in my opinion. It is still a sort of childhood classic, that I'll watch when it comes on. Friday is a real movie, and this is big studio effort to cash in.

No. It's not a good movie. Entertaining, but still the typical unnecessary sequel. If it wasn't a sequel, nobody would even remember it came out.

I think it's held in appropriate regard. Many consider it a classic black comedy movie. You could ask if it would be as popular if not for Friday as well. Does Next Friday, on it's own, spawn multiple sequels?
