If music dries up for Chris Brown, he can still make millions of dollars in this lane....

Quick question - when the whole thing came out that he beat up Rihanna, apart form his insane amount of fame, why did he get a pass on it? Srs question :mjlit:

he never got a pass.

His career was dead in the water. He was being banned from even attending award shows. His name was mud and still is to alot of people.

He just embraced the badboy image and started making catchy/good music that fit it.

And unfortunately, like the poster after you said, the pressure from that has likely gotten to him and is probably why he's the way he is.

However, all things considered, I think his career music-wise turned out bigger than it would've been had the Rihanna thing not happened. Because before he was becoming a bubble-gum pop star

Talent: That will give most artist a pass on anything at least once or twice. I don’t think he has really had a situation like that occur since and if he has, it’s not really publicly known like that story was

Time: Was just a different period. Today, that would be a career ended... back then people were trying to figure out what Rihanna did that made him mad because of his image.

Rihanna: This TLR, so you know race/gender politics has to be discussed. Black women + assault doesn’t always get the response it should. As stated before, people were wondering what she did (throw the keys out the window, started hitting, burnt him, etc.) Also, she didn’t want to press charges and a few weeks after it occurred, she was back hanging out with him like nothing happened. Her parents had to come out publicly and tell her to quit being around him.

BET MJ Tribute: He basically was able to appear to make some sort of amends and show regret for it on national tv.

Past: Came out that he was abused growing up, discussions on abusers tend to have been abused themselves became a talking point.

Reality of Fame: He really isn’t as big as he used to be. He had crossover appeal and was able to be marketed to majority of demographics before that. He probably would of headlined a Super Bowl at this point had he not put hands on her. Weirdly enough though, I think he will have somewhat of a longer career without the highs he had at the time. The good guy image that the labels probably wanted him to portray was gone after that and opened him up to make different songs. Songs such as Loyal aren’t getting made if he had to maintain that image.

Chris Brown is the most multi faceted talent of our generation. He can dance, sing, rap, draw, act. It's fukking insane man. I was telling my nikka this. I've never heard a bad Chris Brown song in my life.
