It won't hurt his ranking...

BUT

people will reeavulate him and open the door for putting other guys like Kobe over him. Because the eastern conference was crap - ESPECIALLY during LeBron's 2nd Cleveland stint. We literally had a 53-win Celtics team led by Isaiah Thomas go number 1 in the standings in 2017, for christ's sake. The reality is that take some of those Cavs teams he had and put them in the West... LeBron ain't going to 8 straight finals.

Kobe had to go through the west with Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom.

Hell, Curry won 73 games and made 2 straight Finals going through the west with his best teammates being Draymond Green and Klay Thompson - who both have serious flaws in their game that Curry covered up those years.

More importantly, Lebron in the west - missed playofffs, won with AD, then lost his first 1st round ever potentially with AD getting hurt... it's not a good look.

He'll be in the GOAT debate stil... but he will probably slide around. Basically, it'll be acceptable to put him top 5 or top 6 or so.

but peeps hype up anything he does or achieve in his “18th year” so he can’t have it both ways
I mean which is it? Is he still the best player in the league (or top 3) like they say he is, or is he 36 and on his last leg?

If he's still an elite player like folks say, his legacy is still being written. If he's still chasing championships as the centerpiece of an organization, his legacy is still being written.

LBGT want it both ways.

This will give his detractors more ammo, and say that he benefited his entire career in a weak Eastern conference.

In the 2 real seasons in the West, he missed the playoffs, and potentially humiliated by a Phoenix team that won 16 games a year prior.

Hopefully he can pull this one out.
at the end of the day, you have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that you had before you woke up today. you have the same personal problems you had today. he's going to continue to live the way he wants to live and continue to do the things that he wants to do with his life and his family and be happy with that. you can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only LeBron, but the Los Angeles Lakers not accomplishing their goal. but you have to get back to the real world at some point.

Bron will be 45 years old comin onto the court in crutches and his detractors will still be sayin "If he don't win it this year his legacy gon suffer" :mjlol:

You can't claim his success enhance his legacy but then catch feelings when others say his failures will detract from his legacy.

Either LeBron's career was already set in stone positive or negative like it was to me. Or its still fluid and any success or failure will affect it. I have had LeBron as the 5th-6th best player of all-time for a decade plus. And that's because I rate players by their skill and ability to play basketball rather than their resume. LeBron flopping in 2011 didn't change my views on him. Neither did him winning 3 titles after that.

If you are gonna act like every new accomplishment enhances his legacy then be prepared for folks to point out how every new failure takes away from it.

Just so we're clear. If the Lakers somehow win this series and go on to win the championship LeBron doesnt move up in your rankings

No matter the #s, no matter his play? Simply because he wont do it with offensive arsenal of others?
