You ALWAYS blow it all wildly out of proportion though......just what was the mayor of Miami thinking, in your reckoning of events? He was going to conspire to traffic drugs and launder drug proceeds with a known flashy drug trafficker? Politicans are without a doubt, esp. at a local level, self interested, selfish, self serving people who line their pockets in almost all ways they can, including illegal or questionable actions....but just what do you speculate was going on? The Mayor either didn't care or didn't care to know who they were....it was a mistake on his part, but someone probably gave him the smooth talk about a mega wealthy business owner who was planning to promote Miami tourism through the nightclub industry....Meech was passing himself off as a music mogul, and it's Miami, so the Mayor and mayors before him have rubbed shoulders with rap stars in all their glory of chains and bandannas...The loose connections you make between this and political corruption in Mexico are basic, surface level comparisons, that don't really compare....The mayor is no doubt a fat scumbag seeing dollar signs.....what are you seeing is that, and perhaps yes an example of how illgetimate fuses with the legit....but Meech wasn't a powerful, untouchable demi god because he knew the fukking mayor of Miami.
