I'm not for disparaging Mandela because he stood for a revolution that many white nations condemn. Even the US had him on the terror list until 2008.

But one thing you do have to ask is why is the wealth gap so wide with the bulk at the hands of the whites.

Yes apartheid was ended, but if it then descends into the wealth inequality it is today, then what did the movement
really accomplish?

It seems to me that it fell apart at the ends, and just evolved into the 'segregation' of modern times.

I admit I need to research more into the circumstances leading up to his release and his political career preceding, but what I do stand on is that this man had massive leverage, in addition to becoming president. The name apartheid was no more, but it's 'economic sanctions' still stand today.

What did the black majority really obtain?

You must ask questions when american media is forcing this rhetoric down out throats speaking nothing but his love for 'both sides'. The same media who posted a photo of the shot up body of Malcolm X on its newspapers, who defiles the history of the revolution of slaves in Haiti, but you love this man? It seems to me American media loves a black leader who urges his people to become docile and passive, touting a word called freedom that has no inherent meaning in daily life:sitdown:
yeah, you kinda have to do that before jumping into broad generalisations
to help you in your quest, i would submit that many of Africa's independent leaders ended up eating the same satan sandwich, a result of the faustian bargain with capitalism
Keep in mind that many of Africa's founding fathers were socialists/communists, unfortunately for them, they had chosen the losing side, and by the time Mandela had to make his deal, the soviet union was as good as dead.
Also the early dutch settlers had been around since the 17th century and are distingushed from their British colonial masters, they are not going anywhere
All things considered, it is arguable that South Africa got a better deal than most in the African struggle for independence
Now are they pissing on their luck? without a doubt, but lets not forget, this is essentially a 20 year old nation, they will eventually get it right as most have.

He is no hero.

If anything he took a passive aggressive way out instead showing the South Africans how never to submit to invaders that came into the country with bad intentions.

The world would have been on his side because those whites were in the wrong.

Give me freedom or give me death.

Why didn't he make any demands?

The man got out of jail and passively bow down to the people who invaded his country and killed his own kinfoke.

Whites controlled everything before he went to jail and after he got out so what message does that send to the rest of the white world who may want to colonize an African country?

He should have made demands on certain conditions in which whites would have to free up a lot of wealth in order to stay in the country but no,he did nothing.

South Africans are just as poor as they were prior to apartheid conditions
