If I am a product of my surroundings why should I be held accountable for my actions?

Basically a more extreme version of determinism.

Well? It is a well known fact one's surroundings greatly influences one's personality/viewpoints/etc. Maybe to the point, that's all it boils down to, one reacting to what society has thrown at them.

Discuss.

Because you are responsible for everything that happens in your life. This is especially true if you are black. If you don't take responsibility for what you do, then you are not the soul controller of your life and allow outside sources to essentially control you.

It is like when black people always point the finger to white people for their troubles. Where did white people come from? If your answer is black people then we must take responsibility for everything good and bad they do, essentially meaning the only one who should be controlling your actions is yourself, not outside influences.

I'm sure you know there are good people in fukked up environments. They don't let outside influences change them, so you shouldn't either. Not saying you HAVE to be accountable, but if this is the case you or whoever should not be surprised about the bs that comes up in your life, because essentially this fukked up world is controlling your life.

The purpose of life is to teach others who have went away from living a righteous life back to living a righteous life style. If you are not teaching others how to live a respectful life then obviously you are not the soul controller of your life, because who wants to live a miserable life IF they claim they are the soul controllers of their life? Showing others how to live a respectful life improves your life because now you have a responsibility to uphold and that responsibility is teaching others how to live without being controlled by outside negative influences(And that doesn't mean just speaking but through your actions). Know what I mean?

An example. If you live in an environment where lots of people smoke. Don't smoke. This does 3 things. 1. Improves your health. 2. You are teaching others how to live(even if they don't follow and quit smoking). 3. Shows and Proves you are the soul controller of your life.

Peace

Based on what? How did you come to these findings that we should all teach each other to be righteous? What is, righteous? And that is righteous according to who?

" If you are not teaching others how to live a respectful life then obviously you are not the soul controller of your life, because who wants to live a miserable life IF they claim they are the soul controllers of their life?"

Not entirely true. Someone could be having all kinds of sex and doing all sorts of drugs but enjoy their life thoroughly. That may be deemed unrespectful to some but the person is not living a miserable life in their view. They remain to be the "soul controller of their life"

What are you basing your morals off of?

Do you believe people naturally act the way they are living today? People of today are self destructive, which is the opposite of life. So if the first people on the planet behaved like the people of today, there would be no human life. Not teaching/communicating and building is self destructive/anti-life.

Yeah, people can lust for sex, and have a greed for drugs. But what are lust, and greed? Deadly Sins! It's not natural for people to lust, and be greedy like the people of today. These are behaviors that are learned and appeared over time.

Compare the life to somebody who's all about sex and drugs to someone who's focused on teaching the reality of life and building and you will see what I mean.

Teach and Build. That's the key. It's cool to have entertainment, as you can see I have a PS3(and other gaming devices) and watch sports and all that, but teach and build and good things will happen.

Righteous is self explanatory bruh. Just do what's right. Is it right to take drugs? Is it right to drink alcohol? Is it right to just watch someone get beat up and ignore like nothing happened? Is it right to lie? Is it right to not teach the truth?

If someone says they are satisfied with just sex and play that's showing and proving they are not in control of their life because it's not natural to be just satisfied with sex and games. It's self destructive! Just take a look at the black community in the US. Who taught us this way of life we're living? Who taught us to be christian, to love everyone including our enemies. Somebody is controlling us, and it's not ourselves. Mind controls body. Words and actions affect the mind...which controls the body(words & actions).

Gotta love scripture.

I John 4:20: If someone says "I love god" and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love god whom he has not seen?

Black on black crime. Acting outside of our natural self. Who taught us to hate ourselves?

Romans 14:17: "for the kingdom of god is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace...

This verse pretty much sums up what I'm trying to say. Do good things and good things will happen! We all should know what's good & bad for us.

We are all the products of our surroundings, therefore you are still accountable for your actions because you still have options to make other choices, like everyone else around you.

then why are there so many stories of people overcoming poor upbringing to become successful? They clearly weren't "bred" to be great or even good, so was that individual just coded with the ability to trudge through shyt while his parents, grandparents, etc. just had to bite the bullet? :leon:

Doesn't seem likely :rudy:
