I don't subscribe to the notion of some "black and brown" solidarity especially when I can look at any "spanish speaking" country and see poverty, despair, racism amongst the black people in those countries. So of course I have nothing but suspicion of minorities, especially the browns one to the South. It's not a question of being minority though. Everyone has the capacity to be the oppressor and "brown" folks don't get a pass for that.

I think this is fair and well said. My heritage is South American, and i'll be the first one to tell you a lot of cats are racist. Period.

Blackness is portrayed negatively overall just like everywhere else in the world, which is the cause and effect of European settlers who instilled that when they invaded.

This isn't just 'brown' people who are mixed with Native American's but Mulatto's who are mixed with black, who don't appreciate their African heritage.
